Last weekend we were in Newport checking out the town. We visited the oldest lighthouse, creature filled tidepools, the beach and Aquarium. We stayed at the Hallmark Inn where we watched the ocean waves from our room and enjoyed a raccoon visit on our patio late night. We ate dinner at the Rogue Ales Public House and had our entire meal paid for!! We were selected by the Rogue Co. to have our tab picked up.... I felt like we had just won the lottery, it was awesome. James got his seafood and beer fix....and for free, he was a happy camper. Sunday morning we went to the Coffee House (a neat local cafe overlooking the harbor) for breakfast and enjoyed one of the best cups of coffee ever as well as the most surprising pancake experience. They brew each cup of coffee individually and then serve it. We ordered their buttermilk pancakes (two orders... one for Blake and one for James) and when they arrived, I about fell out my chair! It was one GIANT pancake....seriously, I think it was about 18 inches in diameter. Draw that out.... it was hanging over the large dinner plate it presented itself on. And we had TWO of them!!! Not only that, we also ordered a yogurt parfait, a homemade apricot-almond scone and side of bacon (for the boys of course). I was slightly embarrassed about the food buffet starring at us and it didn't help that Blake was having a two-year old moment. The breakfast was delicious but I had really wished we had had the camera to document the monster pancake and to help deliberate how in the world they flipped it. To say the least, we had pancake snacks for the rest of the day. Overall, it was a fun weekend despite the interludial rain and tantrums throughout the two days. :) Oh yeah... and we found Nemo.
